Welcome to Malibu Paragliding Club
Background
The Malibu Paragliding Club (MPC) is a nonprofit association of paraglider pilots, formed to promote and support paragliding activities in Malibu and the Santa Monica mountains. We are a chapter of the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA). The USHPA is designated by the FAA to administer all hang gliding and paragliding activities under Part 103 of the Federal Aviation Regulations concerning ultralight aircraft.
Paraglider pilots have been flying Malibu since the early 1990s. In 2003 a group of locally trained pilots formed the club to promote the sport and open flying sites.
Our association currently has about 40 members, with about 20 being active pilots. Most of us fly on weekends and at other times, weather permitting. We are also the contact point for all visiting pilots to the area. There are over 250,000 paraglider pilots worldwide, and we generally see about 50 visiting pilots per year.
Paragliding in Malibu is a unique experience. Our mission is to grow the sport safely while keeping the local community happy!
